He has a keen interest in the biological sciences and after a year of jackerooing on several cattle stations in the Pilbara moved back to Perth to study Agricultural Science at the University of Western Australia.
Andrew's honours research dealt with cereal phenology and responses to environmental cues such as temperature, photoperiod and moisture stress with commonly grown Western Australian wheat varieties.
After graduating Andrew worked for the Department of Agriculture in several research roles which included wheat development modelling, management of soil acidification, phosphorous nutrition in narrow leaf lupins, and crop establishment in minimum tillage systems.
This work lead to a keen interest in broadacre agronomy and Andrew joined Elders Ltd as an agronomist for 4 years based in Geraldton. The opportunity to work for Planfarm Pty Ltd arose in 2002 and allowed Andrew to branch out into farm business analysis and consultancy rather than be confined to a straight sales agronomy role.

Andrew has a love of the ocean and just being outdoors rather than office bound with hobbies include windsurfing, surfing, diving, fishing, camping and book reading.
