Business Area: In his role as Business Consultant, Walter covers the following areas;

  • Farm consulting - Providing financial and general technical advice to farm businesses. Areas of expertise include general farm management, project and property management, farm business budgeting/financing/analysis, feasibility studies, strategic planning, succession planning and crop/pasture/sheep husbandry/management.
  • Financial Planning - Providing financial planning to clients. Areas of expertise include:
    1. wealth protection involving personal and business insurance planning.
    2. wealth creation involving investment strategies, savings plans & margin lending
    3. retirement planning with personal superannuation
    4. ongoing advice and formal reviews relating to your financial situation
Background:

Walter grew up on a family farm in the Central Wheatbelt. After university he traveled overseas for 2 years and managed a engineering business for 3 years on his return. He joined Planfarm in October 1987, being based in Wagin for 14 years.

Interests:

Walter enjoys the opportunity to travel, currently trying to renovate a house when time permits and a general goal of staying fit, healthy and passionate about activities that he is involved in.

ANDREW RINTOUL

Business Area: In his role as consultant, Andrew covers the following business areas;

Background:

Andrew is able to assist farm busineses and the people involved in the farm business to achieve their personal and business objectives. Keeping the family focused on these goals is foremost by way of budgeting, benchmarking and providing advice and guidance to achieve these goals.

Andrew grew up on a livestock property north of Williams. He has been with Planfarm since completing his degree in 1993. Currently he is combining consulting and farming together.

  • Business analysis - taking the physical and financial data from farm businesses and analysing this at key performance points to assist in the development of the business.
  • Budgeting - projecting future cashflows to enable farmers to have a 'business map' from which they can operate.
  • Benchmarking - collating the data for various clients from similar rainfall areas and comparing the performance of individual farms.
  • Property purchases & leases - financial analysis and projections relating to purchasing or leasing land.
  • Strategic Planning - assisting farmers to develop long term plans from which they can make strategic business decisions.
  • Grain Marketing - provides general information.
Background:

Eric spent 19 years working in Banking throughout Western Australia with the last 6 years specialising in Agricultural Banking in the Great Southern. He joined Planfarm in 2004.

The move into farm consulting came as a result of wanting to work with farm businesses in a role which was seen to be independent & one which is involved in their long term success.

JAMES SKERRITT

  • Sheep production - technical advice on all aspects of sheep farming
  • Breeding program design - assisting livestock businesses in developing and achieving their breeding aims.

  • Budgeting - projecting future cashflows to enable farmers to have a 'business map' from which they can operate.
  • Benchmarking - collating the data for various clients from similar rainfall areas and comparing the performance of individual farms.

  • Strategic and Succession Planning - assisting farmers to develop long term plans from which they can make strategic business decisions.
Background:

James lives in Narrogin with his wife and four children. The move into farm consulting came as a result of wanting to work with farm businesses at the coal face of agriculture.

BILL O'NEIL

Business Area:

In his role as an Agronomist, Bill covers the following business areas;

  • Development of sustainable and profitable rotations. Ability to understand the impact rotations have on your overall profitability, not only in the short term but long term as well.
  • Fertiliser and herbicide recommendations with an understanding of the profit drivers of a farm business.
  • Identification of crop and pasture types which will improve overall productivity.
  • Practical analysis and implementation of new technology onto farms i.e. liquid fertiliser, seeding systems, GPS guidance.
As a Consultant, Bill covers the following Business areas;

  • Business analysis - taking the physical and financial data from farm businesses and analysing this at key performance points to assist in the development of the business.
  • Budgeting - projecting future cashflows to enable farmers to have a 'business map' from which they can operate.

Background:

Bill grew up on a mixed farming property in the Chapman Valley. After completing initial university studies worked with SBS IAMA as a sales agronomist in the Geraldton region before joining the Agriculture Department. His work in the department included pulse and lupin development as well as some management duties in the Geraldton and Three Springs offices.

Bill has been working the Narrogin region for approximately 6 years, initially as a senior sales agronomist and for the last two years with Planfarm.

Interests:

Bill has two daughters with his partner Bronwen. They all live on a small property just west of Highbury which takes up any of Bill's spare time after work and family commitments. Bronwen manages her own business in Narrogin as well. The main project for the year is to build a shed in which to start doing work with some of the timber found in the district.
